You may notice more glare driving, especially at night or when driving towards a low setting sun. This is likely due to glare and a good optical practice can examine your eyes and help you with reducing those symptoms. A lens with an anti reflection coating will help for driving at night time. A polarized lens will help during the day. Glare can be caused by minor cataracts / corneal problems / scratched spectacle lenses or poorly focussed eyes. A professional optical practice can examine your eyes fully and help you with reducing those symptoms.
Further signs you should see a MECS Optometrist for an eye test are blurred vision for which you may need new glasses, sight loss, flashes and floaters, eye strain or gritty eyes.
If you need treatment for Cataract we can refer you to Spa Medica, the waiting time for an initial assessment is about 6 weeks. An appointment for treatment is scheduled soon afterwards.
Stress free a sight test / eye examination near Holland on Sea ?
At Simon Kleyn Opticians, we have the ability to easily provide retinal ultra wide detailed imaging from our opticians close to Holland on Sea. Located at the back of your eye, the retina is the only location in your entire body where blood vessels can be viewed easily. If you are vulnerable to diseases such as a stroke, diabetes and heart disease, we will be able to identify early signs of these conditions in your retina. We use the latest Optos imaging technology to ensure our retinal imaging services are as accurate and efficient as possible. Eye drops are not usually needed using this modern eye camera, so you can drive home again straight after the stress free session.
You may remember a fairly noticeable puff of air on you eye during a previous eye test. This puff of air is used to check the pressure in your eyes. We now use a small eye drop to check the pressure in your eyes. These drops do not affect the focussing of your eyes and you will be able to see clearly to drive after the examination. This is less stressful than the puff of air, increases the accuracy of the pressure test and does not cause any splatter of tears. An eye pressure reading is taken to help us assess your risk of Glaucoma.
