Periorbital Cellulitis eye pain

Periorbital cellulitis is an infection of the eyelid and the surrounding skin. The skin will be red swollen and be at least uncomfortable. If the infection escalates it will lead to further discomfort and pain. This condition needs to be treated soon. It can have similar symptoms to a more serious condition called orbital cellulitis. People should seek advise if they notice any symptoms or signs of periorbital cellulitis.

Unlike orbital cellulitis, periorbital cellulitis does not affect the eyeball. However, without treatment, orbital cellulitis can occur. Orbital cellulitis can lead to vision loss and is an eye emergency.
