We promise that when it comes to choosing spectacles you will be offered personal, qualified unbiased professional advice; we do not employ ‘shop assistants’.
Our spectacle lenses are supplied by Essilor, a large manufacturer of quality single vision and varifocal lenses. We use an in-practice scanner, which allows us to pre-order lenses to fit in for your existing frame.
Both varifocal and bifocal lenses are now available in lightweight impact-resistant plastic suitable for rimless spectacles, which need a special stronger plastic to ensure durability. Lenses can have an anti-reflection coating and/or a non-scratch coating added, which also helps for night driving. These coatings are now much easier to keep clean; Crizal Saphire UV, for example, is an excellent choice for computer use and blocks UV.
Polarised lenses are especially suitable to cut out reflections, e.g. for driving when the sun is low in the sky.
Thinner lenses are available to reduce the thickness and weight of your glasses. Using our scanner we can show you what the thickness and weight will be for each lens index choice. Using this scanner you can make an informed choice as to which lens gives you the best value for money. Some very high index lenses are thinner, but only give a minor reduction in thickness and weight and may not be good value.
“Erin’s World” is the frame line specially designed to fit children with Down syndrome giving a superior fit compared to a standard childrens frame. Unlike other frames, the bridge is adjusted to fit on their smaller lower positioned noses and the temples (some people call them arms) are designed to help keep the glasses from constantly slipping. Erin’s World frames are available in a variety of sizes and styles to fit toddlers to adults. We stock a selection of these frames and can order different sizes and colors as needed. click on the image below:
